So the be benefit to the advertiser is clear, the benefit to YouTube/Google is clear, the benefit to the label is clear, the benefit to VEVO itself it clear... I am still waiting to hear the benefit to the ARTISTS.

None of this advertising money is going towards the artist royalties. The artists don't even receive royalties for streams like this, the majors are pushing their videos that weren't set up contractually for technology like this or Spotify, yet they still take in ALL of this revenue for themselves. Vevo is exactly what is wrong with the music industry.

How about you provide that content you feel is missing? What exactly is stopping you? Be the change you want to see in the world. Contribute to the progression, after you've stopped complaining about what others aren't doing. That would be great.

What a joke this guy is. I LOVE watching these "this week in music" segments with everyone involved in the downfall of the music biz talking about how they are saving it.
Vevo is nothing but a tolltaker.
Instead of this clown, and other clowns like Al Teller and Andy Gould, can we hear more from the FUTURE of music, instead of the past.
... or maybe there isn't a future to talk about.

Is my value as a viewer related to the fact that I'm clicking on a Vevo video and therefore advertisers see me as a potentail customer? Seems like Vevo is the classic middle man but I think Vevo cares more about the advertising dollars since the money is the grease that makes the whole scheme work. I guess we'll see. Good show.

Ian reminds me plenty of m'fellow bandmate Micky... deep and insightful.. you know... and that's... ok :)
Nothing wrong with that; good interview, Ian.
At this time, I would like to dedicate this next lyric, in tune of Duran Duran, to mr. caraeff... and it goes something like this.
"His name is Rio and he speaks of revenue.
His kind will soon dry up and he hasn't got a clue."
I thank you...
