Follows the evolution of punk music from its roots to its acceptance into popular culture with The Adicts, Bad Religion, Black Flag, The Damned, Green Day, Minor Threat, NOFX, The Ramones, Rancid, Social Distortion and many more!
Punk's Not Dead is more than just a tribute documentary. It takes you on an era-by-era journey that puts punk rock's non-conformist reputation under the knife. Officially sanctioned by the bands in the film who donated personal photos, fliers and home videos, Punk's Not Dead follows the evolution of punk music from its anarchic roots, to its use as a corporate marketing tool and acceptance into popular culture, to its reinvention in today's underground scene. It features such bands as The Adicts, Bad Religion, Black Flag, The Damned, The God Awfuls, Good Charlotte, Green Day, Minor Threat, NOFX, The Offspring, Pennywise, The Ramones, Rancid, Social Distortion, Stiff Little Fingers, The Subhumans, Sum 41, UK Subs, The Used, and many, many more. Director Susan Dynner's first-hand experience of Washington DC's punk scene in the Eighties and her continued love of punk music spurred the making of this self-financed, independent documentary true to the D.I.Y. spirit of punk culture. Punk's Not Dead combines intelligent, insightful commentary with live performances, behind-the-scenes anecdotes and a killer soundtrack.

Punk is about doing what you want and not caring but as you grow up your not gonna do the same immature shit and that's why bands like GD and The Offspring have changed.

yeah very true, punk was and always will be a part of all of us, there are just people who think for themselves and those who follow the lies they're told

I doni't think punk was new when it first reared it's head. Lydon auditioned in Mclaren's Sex shop to an Alice Cooper record. Pete Townshend obliterated his guitar on stage in the early 60s. The Jefferson Airplane and Bob Dylan confronted their governments of the day etc

they could have picked a better song for the intro.

punk can never die. its immortal. it may change, it may go into hiding and it may reincarnate but it will never die.

i think you would be hard pushed to argue that bands like Green Day and Sum 41 don't have some total choons, but no matter how fucking catchy Fat Lip is....ITS NOT PUNK
TheQuiZNoKid - 20.5.2012 8:18:27
I hate how much image has became important in punk rock. Now I only really listen to hardcore punk. I can't stand street punk anymore because they are just so caught up in making sure they dress "punk" and put up their liberty spikes and mohawks up. Making sure they only sing about anarchy and violence and making sure they sound like The Casualties. At least if I go back and listen to some hardcore they just focus on the music really. I've never seen Henry Rollins or Ian MacKaye with a mohawk.

Johnny Rotten's music wast not REAL honesty, this is honest:
Nobody is saying that Africa needs diversity.
Nobody is saying that Asia needs diversity.
They are already 100% diverse.
People are only telling white children in white countries that they need diversity.
White Countries will be 100% diverse when there are NO WHITE CHILDREN LEFT.
Diversity is a code-word for White genocide.
Anti-racist is a code word for anti-White.

Most of these "punk rockers" think that you have to have a generic punk rock sound to be a punk band. If punk rockers put labels on what is and isn't punk then they are no better than mainstream society in the sense of alienating a group of people for not following the punk rock status quo. I think that its cool that a kid can walk down the street with creepers and a mohawk without getting their ass kicked simply because of their appearance.
